It gets cold in Winnipeg. Very cold. SO the Manitoba Association Of Architects invited entries for the design Of shelters to be temporarily installed along the Red River Mutual Trail for the benefit of skaters.

Our entry emphasises lightness in terms of both materials and luminosity.  The hut is constructed from local cedarwood that has been shaped to create an attractive and open space. Indeed, the roof is deliberately left 'open' so that occupants can gaze at the stars or watch the snow falling.

At the same time, the log fire creates a luminous and welcoming glow that makes the hut into a great place to meet Other people or take a break from skating with friends and family.
