  • TEXT

Throughout the world there are examples of public book exchange initiatives where people can exchange books they have read for books left behind by others.

To stimulate reading in children, we designed a book exchange in whose design is closely related to the development of the child.

Reading and books are instrumental to the development of every child. This forms the basis for a design in which books that the child has outgrown are exchanged for books that older children left behind. As the child grows, he or she will find suitable books at a higher level.

Thus the interior becomes a realm designed specifically for children; the maximum height of the underside of this sculptural object is set at 1.5 m.

In order to trigger the local community to adopt this initiative we propose to place the book exchange in front of a primary school within a predominantly residential area.
